The New Saphir Hotel in Yogyakarta

The number of Yogyakarta hotels increases on a regular basis as leisure tourism is strengthening year after year. However, the four-star New Saphir Hotel, as one of the oldest stays, is still a landmark for both national and international visitors. Slightly assumed, this hotel has some advantages that keep it on the track in the midst of tight competition.

1. The Location

The hotel is located on Jalan Adisucipto 38 . The airport is located only 15 minutes from the hotel. Jalan Adisucipto and its surroundings are busy streets for shopping and entertainment center (Ambarukmo Plaza, Empire XXI and Galeria Mall), universities (UIN and Instiper), tourism spots (Tugu Yogya and Malioboro), public places (Tugu and Lempuyangan station), traditional and modern shops, street sellers etc.

2. The Design

The hotel is a minimalist building that will look so simple from the front. It has four floors including basement, 2nd floor, 3rd floor and 5th floor. However, as you enter the front lobby and find Mirah Lounge and Promenade Café well-combined in a large room of the 2nd floor, you will think differently because of its broader view. The traditional musical instrument and ornament along the wall will give a very Javanese nuance on your mind. You will be impressed with the large swimming pool in the backyard of the hotel’s basement with a green and fresh design.

3. The Rooms

The hotel offers various options of the 205 rooms located in 2nd, 3rd and 5th floors. It has Suite type of Junior, Executive and Royal and Room type of Superior, Deluxe and Family. Both Superior and Deluxe Room have twin and triple types that you can choose it if you need extra beds. There is also special room for business package (with a special price) that will be preferable for businessmen to have an agenda held there. Among all, Deluxe Room is the largest and most exclusive one. It is located in a special spot on the 5th floor that will assure your privacy. The price starts from 700.000.00 IDR including buffet breakfasts for two persons. Meanwhile, all suite types are in 2nd and 3rd floors with smaller size of rooms and bathrooms as well. All types of room are distinguished by quality and completeness of the furniture, rooms’ facility and accessories.

4. The Breakfast/Restaurant

The hotel allows visitors to have the meal inside or outside the hotel based on the price package they decide. A person will get charge 50.000 IDR to have breakfast in the hotel each day. It also offers both traditional and modern cuisine to cover various needs and appetite of visitors.

Overall: The New Saphire Hotel offers you high quality service and modern design for a relatively affordable price. It is a great option to consider for business or family occasion.

Ballroom golden tulip banjarmasin

Golden Tulip Galaxy Hotel Banjarmasin

Golden Tulip Galaxy Banjarmasin is a 4-star Hotel located on Jalan Ahmad Yani, close to Duta Mall and the Mercure Hotel. The property recently opened in 2014 and is a great addition to the upscale offer of the city. The Hotel is located only 25 minutes from Syamsudin Noor Airport.

We liked the clean and quite big rooms (Deluxe Rooms or Superior Rooms) and the Galaxy Lobby Lounge, with its tremendously good pastries. They also have an excellent Wine Bar at 11th floor of the building called “Opio Wine bar” and “Branche” restaurant with mostly italian specials and indonesian favourites.

The theme of this hotel will be the celebration of artistry, with pieces of Art from Indonesian artist Hendra Gunawan. I can’t wait to have a look at this and to see their adaptation to the Indonesian market. Usually, international Luxury brands start in Bali and then come to Jakarta. Raffles chooses to start with Jakarta, as the demand for luxury business hotels is still growing at a high rate.

Holiday Inn Express Pluit Bedroom

Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Pluit Citygate

Book Holiday Inn Jakarta Pluit with logo ISTANIA and Baseline 300

This is a particularity in some big cities, especially in Jakarta: some Hotels are located in the same building as a mall. This is the case for this brand new Holiday Inn Express, who just opened in September 2014. The Hotel is located on the 10th floor of Emprium Pluit Mall, one of the biggest mall in the Pluit area. You are also in the area of the Mangga Dua Mall. The Soekarno Airport is easily reachable by the toll road, and you can get there within 15 minutes (with no traffic of course), so it is a good choice of Business Hotel in the Pluit area. For the leisure travelers and family escapes, you will also have access to theme parks in the Ancol area like Waterboom or Ancol Dreamland and also the Pantai Indah Kapuk neighborhood with its restaurants.

I found the Hotel rooms nice and quite bright, with light colors. The bathroom is also very clean and quite elaborated. You also have access to Free Wi-Fi both in the bedrooms and in the whole common areas, which is great and very convenient in such a connected city like Jakarta. What I liked the most, besides all the amenities and standards from IHG Group, is the room that overlooked North Jakarta. You feel like you are very high in the sky (from 10th floor to 20th floor).

The beverages were a bit pricey as I had to pay 50 000 Rp for a tasteless Capuccino, but apart from that, it is a brand new Hotel with nice Bedrooms and international standards. The average price for 1 night is 860 000 Rp per night, with a breakfast for 2 people included.
